Low Fat Toasted French Bread Recipe

Sophisticated Alternative To Chips, Impressive Holiday Appetizer

Toasted French Bread

Toasted French Bread is a sophisticated (and low fat) alternative to corn chips or potato chips, and it makes an impressive holiday appetizer. Serve with artichoke dip, spinach dip, sour cream dip, hummus, refried beans, guacamole, salsa - find them all in our Sauces, Dips and Spreads.

Here's the big bread recipe! Use day old, firm baguette(s), for easy slicing. Remove the crusts if you like - but do it before you slice the bread! Personally I think this step is unnecessary, but perhaps not, if you're entertaining royalty or your in-laws.

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
  • Cut the baguette into the thinnest possible slices (1/4 - 3/8 inch).
  • Place the slices on a cookie sheet and bake until light golden brown and completely dry.
  • Serve on a platter with some dips, and watch them disappear!
