Blissful Hot Beverage with Decaf Tea, Almond Milk & Cocoa

Chai

For our vegan decaf chai recipe, we recommend using fair trade and organic ingredients. It considerably ups the bliss quotient knowing that your hot beverage is helping farmers make a decent and healthy living.

It's worth taking 5 - 10 minutes to make your own decaf chai latté. Not only is it fresh, delicious, and inexpensive (compared to buying a cup), it's also super easy!

Chai Directions:

  • Boil the water, and simmer the tea bags for 5 - 10 minutes
  • Remove the tea bags, and add the sugar, cocoa & almond milk
  • Turn to simmer and heat, stirring with a whisk - don't boil

Recipe Tips:

The cocoa is a nice touch, but leave it out if you're not a chocolate person. You can use a lot less sugar that way. Use 1/2 the amount of agave nectar instead of sugar if you'd rather.

If you LIKE caffeine, use 1 tsp loose black tea, plus a cinnamon stick, 6 whole cloves and 4 green cardamom pods. Strain the tea when serving.

Directions are for 2 servings. To increase the recipe, multiply the ingredients by two, three, four or whatever. Kids can drink this chai too, because it's de-caf. Makes a nice change from hot chocolate!
