Vegetarian Advice: Becoming A Vegetarian In Iraq

Question: Interested in becoming a vegetarian - any suggestions for proper nutrients?

Judith, thanks for the free report, 10 Tips for Beginning Vegetarians. I think that they are helpful for a person like me, who is interested in becoming a vegetarian, but uncertain of how exactly to make the vegetarian transition.

My bigger problem right now is that I am in the Army and deployed to Iraq. I really don't have any access to outside food purchases, or cooking my own meals. Mostly, the meals here are of the meat and potato variety.

Do you have any suggestions for me, so that I can be certain I am getting the proper vitamins and nutrients that I need in a situation like this? Thank you for all your help. - A. in Iraq

Savvy Vegetarian Advice

Dear A.,

The only suggestion I can offer in your situation, is to take a high quality mineral and vitamin supplement, and eat all the grains and veggies on offer. I would think that tryng to become a vegetarian under the circumstances would just add more stress to your life, and I'm sure you don't need that! Hopefully, you'll be able to organize that once you return to civilian life.

Best wishes! Judith Kingsbury, Savvy Vegetarian
